Stop Losing Weight. Start Losing Fat (Real Explanation)
When I sat down with Priscilla Loomis at the Women’s Health Expo inside the Vineland Convention Center, one of the biggest topics we discussed was something most people completely misunderstand about fitness:
Weight loss and fat loss are not the same thing.
And according to both of us, that misunderstanding is one of the main reasons so many people struggle to see real long term results.
Most people become obsessed with the number on the scale.
But the real question is:
What are you actually losing?
Because body weight is made up of:
Muscle
Water
Body fat
During the interview, we discussed how many people lose muscle during extreme dieting, excessive cardio, and quick fix fitness programs. The scale may go down temporarily, but metabolism slows down with it.
That is why someone can lose weight and still feel:
Tired
Weak
Frustrated
Unhappy with how they look

Priscilla Loomis is not just another fitness influencer online.
She is an Olympic level high jumper who represented Antigua and Barbuda at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. She is also a multi time international medalist and one of the most accomplished track and field athletes connected to South Jersey.
Throughout her athletic career, Priscilla Loomis has earned:
Silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games
Silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games
National records in the high jump
International recognition in track and field competition
As an Olympic athlete, her career has been built around:
Discipline
Structure
Recovery
Performance
Body composition
Mental toughness
That is exactly why the conversation at the Women’s Health Expo connected so deeply with attendees.
This was not a conversation based on internet trends.
It was a real discussion about how the body actually works.
The Scale Does Not Tell the Full Story
One of the biggest topics discussed during the interview was how many people have become obsessed with losing weight instead of understanding body composition.
AtSupreme Body Training, the focus is not simply about making the number on the scale drop.
The focus is on:
Reducing unhealthy body fat
Preserving lean muscle
Building strength
Improving energy
Creating structure and consistency
Through personal training, fitness classes, accountability coaching, and nutritional guidance, we discussed how real transformation comes from improving how the body functions not just what the scale says.
Priscilla Loomis added perspective from the Olympic level, explaining that elite athletes do not train just to lose weight.
They train to:
Perform better
Stay strong
Preserve muscle
Improve recovery
Optimize body composition
That same philosophy applies to everyday people trying to improve their health.

Many doctors still rely heavily on BMI, also known as Body Mass Index.
BMI uses:
Height
Weight
Age
to estimate where your body “should” be.
The problem?
BMI does not tell you:
How much muscle you have
How much body fat you carry
How healthy your body composition actually is
That is why many fitness professionals focus more on body fat percentage instead of simply looking at body weight alone.
Someone can technically fall into a “healthy” BMI category while still carrying unhealthy levels of body fat.
That is why understanding body composition matters so much.

Knowing your body fat percentage gives you a much clearer picture of your actual health.
For example:
If someone weighs 180 pounds and has 25% body fat, they can calculate approximately how much fat mass they are carrying.
This changes the conversation completely.
Instead of saying:
“I need to lose 50 pounds.”
You can say:
“I need to reduce unhealthy body fat while preserving muscle.”
That is a much smarter and healthier goal.
It shifts the focus away from starving the body and toward improving:
Metabolism
Muscle preservation
Energy
Performance
Long term health
Another major part of the discussion at the Vineland Convention Center focused on women’s health and the pressure many women face from unrealistic fitness expectations online.
As a strong advocate for women pushing themselves mentally and physically, Priscilla Loomis discussed the importance of confidence, discipline, education, and long term wellness instead of chasing quick fixes.
During the Women’s Health Expo, we also discussed how social media has created confusion around:
Fat loss
Weight loss
Nutrition
Exercise
Body image
Instead of relying on temporary motivation, the focus should be on building sustainable habits that improve:
Health
Energy
Confidence
Longevity
Overall quality of life

During the interview, we discussed how muscle plays a major role in:
Metabolism
Strength
Daily movement
Longevity
Physical appearance
This is why many people feel “skinny fat.”
The scale drops.
But the body still does not look or feel healthy.
Why?
Because they lost muscle instead of focusing on true fat loss.
That is also why many people regain weight quickly after crash diets and excessive cardio routines.
The body slows down.
Energy crashes.
Metabolism decreases.
And the cycle starts all over again.
Part of what made the conversation so impactful was discussing the personal health struggles that led to studying fitness, nutrition, metabolism, and body composition on a much deeper level.
At one point, the battle included:
High blood pressure
High cholesterol
Diabetes
High triglycerides
Through structured exercise, lifestyle changes, and education, it became possible to completely transform overall health naturally.
Today, the mission behind Supreme Body Training continues to focus on helping people understand the difference between simply losing weight and truly transforming their overall health.
Stop obsessing over weight loss.
Start focusing on fat loss, muscle preservation, and long term health.
Because real transformation is not about becoming smaller.
It is about becoming healthier, stronger, more confident, and more capable.
The scale only tells part of the story.
Your body composition, habits, energy, and consistency tell the rest.
If you are tired of crash diets, random workouts, and constantly starting over, maybe it is time for a different approach.
AtSupreme Body Training, we help people build structure through:
Personal training
Fitness classes
